G2 Curriculum Update: April 13th, 2020

Reading: This week students will be moving from learning about characters to author's craft. They will try and analyze how the author paints a picture with words by looking for the craft moves of sound words, small actions, dialogue, and setting. They will also look more into author's word choice and try and find words they didn't know before.

Writing: This week the students will continue to work on adding more reasons to support their opinions.  They will also focus on the introduction and conclusion of their letters.  At the end of the week the students will have the chance to share one letter with third grade students through Flipgrid.

Math: NEW UNIT!! MODULE 7:
Problem Solving with Length, Money and Data
This module presents an opportunity for students to practice addition and subtraction strategies within 100. They also use problem-solving skills as they learn to work with various types of units within the contexts of length, money and data. Students will represent categorical and measurement data using picture graphs, bar graphs and line plots.

Grammar/Word Study: The students will continue to explore how we use suffixes to change the meaning of words.  They will also learn more modals to help with their persuasive writing.

Social Studies:
WHO PROVIDES SERVICES IN A COMMUNITY? Many people have jobs where they make things. Other people have jobs where they help, or “serve,” others. These jobs are services. Students understand that people who provide services in the community sometimes make things, too, such as meals in a restaurant. Students will learn that the services people provide are important to the community. They help keep the community healthy, safe, and happy.

PortuguêsNessa semana, vamos começar a unidade sobre Contos de Fadas. Os alunos irão ler, ouvir e assistir histórias. Também irão usar o Flipgrid para registrar suas ideias.
