Reading: The second graders are continuing to work on fluency in their reading, including reading to match a character's voice. Additionally, they are working on identifying literary language, such as similes, in their reading. Once they have identified literary language, the students are working to figure out why the author included that type of language.
Writing: Our current writing unit is integrated with our science units. As the students complete experiments they are using the scientific method to record the process and their thinking in a lab report.
Science: Through modeled experiments, students have observed how natural disasters like Tsunamis can change the land.
