G2 Curriculum Update - October 21st

Here is what is coming up in Grade Two.

Reading: Students are beginning their new reading unit on reading nonfiction.  To begin the unit, students will work on their skills of noticing, learning, and questioning as they explore nonfiction titles.

Writing: Our new writing unit is nonfiction writing.  To begin with, we will integrate with social studies as the students begin to create a class book about the city of Sao Paulo.

Social Studies: We are continuing to understand our communities and learn how Sao Paulo impacts us. We are exploring community workers, such as doctors and vendors to learn how they help us. Students made great connections to our field trip and learned how Sao Paulo is unique and how the city has many things for people to do that make it fun. In the next two weeks, we will begin to try and help our community by creating a book about Sao Paulo that teaches others about parts of the city.
