Literacy- In the final writing unit for first grade, the students will become series writers. They will create their own characters, adventures, problems and solutions. In reading, students will embark on adventures through series books. The unit focuses on empathy, imagination, envisioning, and prediction.
Math- In unit 7, students are introduced to ideas about 2-D and 3-D shapes and their attributes. They are identifying polygons and exploring with 3D shapes. Students continue to practice addition and subtraction facts for speed and accuracy.
Geometry Learning Targets
1.G.2 I can build a shape with the attributes that someone gives me.
1.G.2 I can put two-dimensional shapes together to make triangles, squares, trapezoids, and rectangles.
1.G.2 I can put two-dimensional shapes together to make cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders.
I can name most 2D and 3D shapes
Social Studies- Students began the “Family” unit in Social Studies and started with teaching the class about their own families. They have talked about who’s in their family and are even branching out to extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Portuguese- Na próxima semana, iniciaremos uma nova unidade de estudo: Animais brasileiros ameaçados de extinção na Mata Atlântica e na Amazônia. Nesta unidade, praticaremos a leitura para busca de informação, a escrita de um texto informativo e a apresentação oral de informações sobre um animal pesquisado.
