Curriculum Update

Literacy- Students have been working hard as opinion writers to begin with interesting hooks to catch their readers attention, making sure they state their personal opinion, and writing persuasive reasons for their opinions. In reading they are practicing using different strategies to reveal the tricky words in their texts. They are becoming stronger and stronger readers!

Math- Students have continued to work daily on their math facts and ensuring they know their doubles, and now their near double facts. Additionally, they are using critical thinking skills to solve the in and out function machines. While doing this they have to look for patterns in the machine and check their thinking before identifying the unwritten rules.

Science- Students are investigating how can we make the classrooms completely dark and how much can we see in the dark? Students attempted to cover up all of our large windows but were unsuccessful because we had limited materials. Students are learning that sometimes students have to make a model and experiment on the smaller scale model. Groups of students collaboratively are making models of the classrooms in order to carry on more investigations with light.
