Curriculum Update

Literacy- Students are finishing the first unit of study “Readers have big jobs to do” and will be beginning their new unit, “Learning about the world” where they focus on reading non-fiction texts.

Math- Students are adding and subtracting and finding patterns on the number line, and learning to write number models. They are using frames and arrows to count up and count down, and using parts-and-total diagrams to add.

Science- First graders planted carrots, tomatoes, parsley, and beans and they are now observing the daily growth. Students are learning what plants need in order to survive. They are also observing what happens to plants that receive sunlight and water, versus ones that get only water and only sunlight.

  

Portuguese- Os alunos estão escrevendo e revisando relatos pessoais e ouvindo histórias escritas pelo autor Ilan Brenman. Para escrever as histórias lidas, ele se inspirou em situações do cotidiano vividas com suas filhas.
