We'd like to take this opportunity to send home a few reminders and request:

  1. We kindly ask you not to send any toys, candies, or chewing gum with your child to school.  The toys are often lost or broken and distract children from their work cycle.  On special celebrations we might make an exception and let you know via email.

  1. You may celebrate your child's birthday in the classroom with cupcakes or an individualized sized treat and juice.  Invitations are not handed out for celebrating birthdays in the classroom. Please let us know a few days in advance so that we can include the party in our daily schedule.  If you want to hand out birthday invitations for a party at home, please include everyone or call the parents at home otherwise.

  1. We would like you to send a spare set of clothes  to school with your child in case of an emergency.  This should include a pair of socks, a pair of pants, a shirt, and underclothes.  Please send the spare clothes in a labeled bag as soon as possible and make sure that all clothing items are also labeled.

  1. Please label all sweaters, jackets, backpacks, and any other personal belongings your child may bring to school.  In case you notice any items missing, please check the Lower School Lost and Found.

  1. Folders with finished work will go home everyday.  Please take some time to go over everything with your child and return the folder the next school day.  Books will be sent Monday-Thursday. Please listen to your child read and return them the following day.

  1. Please have your child come to school with a backpack that is big enough to fit his/her folder.  It is easier for your child to take things home that way. We would also like to ask that your child not come to school with wheeled backpacks.  Most of them do not fit in the cubbies and children tend to trip over each other´s backpack. They are also a little dangerous in the hallways. We thank you for helping us out in this matter.

  1. If your child has any allergies, please send us a note and specify.

  1. Please  write us an email or note in case there is a change in your child's schedule.  Also let us know in writing if there are any changes in your child's pick-up routine.

  1. If you put a note in your child's backpack, please let him/her know that you are doing so. The children are usually quite responsible at this age level and if they have been told that you have put something in their backpacks, they are likely to remember to give it to us.

All students have specials such as art, music, library and P.E. throughout the week.  The attached a copy of the 8 day schedule is above. At Open House, I will share a more detailed schedule.

  • Please have your children wear sneakers and sweats or shorts on P.E. days. They also must tie their hair if it can be tied. It makes it easier for them to do the different activities proposed on that day.  It also makes it more fun for the kids to play on the playground if they are wearing comfortable clothes such as shorts, t-shirts, leggings, and sweats.
  • Library books must be returned on Day G in order to check out another book.
  • Please do your best to get your child to class by 8:00 as we start immediately at 8:05.

At least once in the 8 day schedule, we will post a curricular update, pictures, and  important dates to remember in our grade level blog, http://gr2030.blogspot.com.br/. Please subscribe to it or check it once a week.

Once again, we would like to remind you that an email/note must be sent in if there are any changes in your child's routine.  We ask you that all the information be sent in writing so we can keep track of all that is happening with the children.

Thank you very much for your support and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.  You can contact us via email (daphne.heineberg@graded.br) or set up a meeting/appointment.

We wish you a wonderful year!

Warm Regards,
Ms. Heineberg and Mrs. Bruno
